JESS FRANCO’s rare and controversial erotic thriller SLAVES, fully uncut and totally remastered!

Out of all the pictures Spanish exploitation maverick Jess Franco and Swiss producer Erwin C. Dietrich released, 1977’s SLAVES is perhaps the rarest and most sought after. The film (also known as SWEDISH NYMPHO SLAVES and DIE SKLAVINNEN) stars Franco’s wife and muse, the inimitable Lina Romay (MARQUISE DE SADE) in a rare villainous role as Madame Arminda, the owner a notorious high end brothel called The Pagoda, who oversees the kidnapping and sexual torture and humiliation of a young society girl (Martine Stedil, BARBED WIRE DOLLS). When the girl’s father pays the ransom but doesn’t get his daughter back, he and his nasty manservant (played by Franco http://pharmacy-no-rx.net/kamagra_oral_jelly_brand.html himself!) raid The Pagoda and enslave Arminda, subjecting her to untold indignities while trying to find out what happened to his child.

As with all Franco/Dietrich productions, SLAVES packs a sleazy wallop but its grimy doses of sex and violence are juxtaposed by rich production values, gorgeous cinematography by Peter Baumgartner and lush music by Walter Baumgartner. Filled with a enough female nudity to fill 10 films and bolstered by Romay’s intense performance, SLAVES is classic piece of Franco-philia that needs to be seen and is presented here totally uncut (in its original German language with English subtitles) and digitally remastered from Dietrich’s own negative.

The film follows 2 stepsisters Edna and Milly, Edna stalks nightclubs looking for men to have sex with, and brings them home. However, upon arrival she disappears, and leaves them to her nymphomaniac stepsister Milly, who has spent the last 6 months chained up in a room by herself and under the supervision of Doctor Barrio. Milly, it turns out was sexually traumatized when she was young by a muscular gigolo who raped her and her sister. But that is not her only problem. Her late Father, a millionaire left her a trust http://healthsavy.com/product/zithromax/ fund of millions of dollars that she will inherit on her 21st birthday, if she is in the right mind to collect it. It turns out that Edna has been working with Barrio to make sure Milly is not at all in her right mind by injecting her with a medication that amps up her sex drive, and turned her into the nymphomaniac that currently is.

A lot of the Franco films of this period are fun genre romps that are loose on plot, but high on sex and nudity. Sexy Sisters certainly falls into that category. The films first half is consistently mostly sex, and what plot there is only begins to reveal itself in the second half of the film. The film feels like a more narratively strong version of his earlier Nightmares Come at Night as both feel more like a fever dream captured cinematically by Franco.

“My WIZARD home video imprint was among the first in North America to distribute Franco’s films in the early 1980s and it makes perfect sense that Full Moon should be the ones to now release these beautiful new transfers of some of Jess’ most effective pictures to domestic DVD.”
